Charred Fiberglass Composite
Glass fiber/Resin composites burn at a fairly high temperature.
The resin chars as it burns. The reflectivity indicates the fire reached over 500
Celsius about 932 Fahrenheit but didn't reach the melting point of the glass fiber.
Transmitted Off-Crossed Polars and Reflected Darkfield
Definition/Function:
The reflectivity of char increases with the temperature. Reflected darkfield illumination is
required to assess exposure. Transmitted light provides edge definition to the particles
present.
